So what's on your book shelf?  It doesn't have to be books, let us know about videos, DVD's, audio tapes or any collectables that you may have.  The only proviso is that it must have a link (however tenuous) to the series.  Comments are those generally of the editors AF and MS.

 

The Adventures of Robin Hood

The following 5 books were published by Adprint as a direct result of the TV series.  Our thanks go to Charles Laing who provided the images from his collection and helped with the details of the episode guides.  Both Number 1 and 2 include photographs from the series, whilst the remaining books have only comic strip style illustrations.  The later books also include a mixture of real and made up episodes (identified with an *).

Number 1 includes: -

Robin Hood

It seems that the series was even popular in Holland.  This book was published by Vanderhout & Co of Utrecht in 1964.  Select the image for a selection of images and sample page in "Dutch".  Our thanks go to Anna for supplying images from her original copy.

 

The Adventures of Robin Hood by Roger Lancelyn Green.

First published in 1956, this edition from Puffin dates back to 1972.  The author has retold the legend of Robin Hood from a number of sources.  One of my favourite reads. (MS)

Published by The Amalgamated Press.

Includes both colour and black and white picture stories.  A must for the collector.  I believe this is one of four published in this series.  In this edition it includes 'The Story of Richard the Lionheart'. (MS)

Robin Hood His Life and Legend by Bernard Miles, Illustrated by Victor G. Ambrus.

This edition published by Hamlyn Publishing Group in 1979, this edition by Treasure Press in 1989.

Those who watch Time Team will know of Victor Ambrus and his wonderful recreations.  This book is worth obtaining just for the illustrations that Victor has contributed. (MS)
