Victor Woolf Derwent/Various Roles
|
|
In ‘The Adventures of Robin Hood’, Victor Woolf was something of an unsung hero. He played an outlaw called Cedric in a few of the very early episodes. A little later came the part of Derwent the joiner, a role he would play for the remainder of the series’ run. It was in Season 1 in particular, that Victor was often required to play two, three or (on two occasions) four different roles in the same episode. Whether it be outlaws, soldiers, clerks or monks, Victor Woolf portrayed them all. In fact, he appeared in every episode of that season. He featured in a total of 109 episodes overall (although uncredited in around a quarter of them), Richard Greene being the only actor to make more appearances in the series. Victor’s career was principally in theatre, but he continued to make very occasional TV appearances until the mid-1970s. In 1974 he had a small part in the film ‘Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell’.
