Although predominantly filmed at Nettlefold Studios (later renamed Walton Studios) at Walton-on-Thames, external scenes were shot out on a number of locations. As can be appreciated this was 50 years ago and places change. In this section we aim to give you 'then' and 'now' look at some of the locations we have been able to identify.
Wisley Common, Wisley, Surrey
The site of many of the heathland and woodland scenes from The Adventures of Robin Hood, Wisley Common continues nowadays to be an area of natural beauty with much wildlife, despite the close proximity of both the A3 and the M25. The village of Wisley formally had its own large pond called Bolder Mere, however this is now physically separated from the village by the A3. Wisley Common is now managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust. The following map shows the position of Wisley Common and Foxwarren, which was the home of Hannah Weinstein.

I hope that the following photographs evoke the feeling of Robin Hood (Richard Greene) and Little John (Archie Duncan) suddenly appearing to invite another unsuspecting guest to dinner, or the image of the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Wheatley) galloping off after another unsuccessful encounter with Robin and his band. The first two photographs were all taken in area to the right of the car park near the village of Wisley.
